Our little company began life in 1970 as Bassano Growers Ltd., a farmer co-operative. Now called Bassano Farms LTD (BFL), we are one of the largest potato shippers in Alberta. BFL is a privately held company employing about one hundred people at peak harvest. While potatoes are our largest commodity, BFL provides locally-grown carrots, cabbage and beets to the wholesale industry. In addition, through vertical integration, we bring processed, fresh cut products to market.
Our values guide everything we do. BFL prides itself on supporting local family growers and supports more than 2,000 acres mostly in southern Alberta. We buy directly from these growers and are doing our part to support our neighbours and industry partners.
